At Ladies in the Family Foundation, we are passionate about helping girls and young women aged 10-16 build skills, confidence, and leadership. This summer, we are excited to bring back the BE-GIRL Summer Camp — a free, life-changing experience designed to inspire and empower.

Immanuela Lawrence

Born in the Netherlands to Dutch parents, Immanuela experienced an international childhood, growing up in Cameroon and Kenya due to her father’s work as a Bible translator. She later moved to Amsterdam to attend university, where she worked at Boom Chicago selling tickets and studying improv alongside notable alumni such as Jordan Peele. In 2003, Immanuela relocated to Montreal, QC, to further her improv studies. There, she was taught by Dave Lawrence, creator of Fubar, whom she married in 2006. Together, they formed a creative partnership, collaborating as screenwriter-producers on various film and television projects. Immanuela continued her improvisation training at Calgary’s renowned Loose Moose Theatre, eventually becoming a senior company member and instructor.

She holds memberships in both the Writers Guild of Canada and the Writers Guild of America and has several produced credits to her name. Immanuela is the co-creator of two television series: Fubar Age of Computer (Viceland, Rogers) and TnT Fubar (Swearnet, Blue Harbor Entertainment). Her profile feature on Loose Moose founder Keith Johnstone earned her a nomination for an Alberta Magazine Award.
