Rashena Francis

“Born and raised in Jamaica, Rashena Francis had a passion for languages and a healthy lifestyle, and intended to pursue a career in those fields. However, after moving to Canada with her son, her career choice took a different path as she started to learn about what was in demand. This forced Rashena to stray away from her passion. While living in Calgary, her mentor played a huge role in her applying for the Social Work program. By 2020, Rashena completed her Social Work Diploma at Mount Royal University and attained both the Dean’s and President’s Honour Rolls.
Her Social work experience has allowed her to work as a Peer Support Worker, and an Addiction’s Support Worker. She has also been a support to immigrant women in the past, and has volunteered at local pageants and fundraisers within her community. Outside of community involvement, Rashena has experience in retail, customer service and the restaurant industry.

Even though Rashena started out her young adulthood as a single mom at the age of 19, she has always been a fighter – determined and hardworking. Her platform is driven by her own life struggles as a low-income single mom, and she aspires to have her own foundation or charity in a few years from now. This would be based in Canada and Jamaica, catering to low-income individuals and families.

Rashena finds joy in dancing, working out, DIY body care, being in nature, watching movies, playing games and reading with her son, shopping, supporting her loved ones and spending time with friends and families. By entering this pageant, her aim is to make a positive impact for the things she cares about – one of them being advocacy as a Social Worker.”
